Alix Rouse got well-deserved recognition for his consistent good form and his record in internal county competitions with a call up for the Essex team in the quarter final of the Bowls England Middleton Cup. In the six-rink game against Buckinghamshire at Welwyn on Saturday, Alix’s rink was the only one to win for Essex in a 115 – 98 overall loss. A proud day for Alix and the Club as most of the Essex players come from the bigger clubs in the London fringe.

Alix, as club skipper, was also happy on Wednesday night as the A team had a resounding 8 points to 0 win at home to Stebbing and will go in search of a second place league finish in Division 1 in their last game next Wednesday, away at Dunmow. Unfortunately, a depleted B team suffered defeat to league leaders Thaxted A: despite this loss, the tight battle for third place will continue in their last fixture, at home to Elsenham on Wednesday evening.

The Essex and Herts Senior side bounced back from their difficult spell with a solid 6- 2 win away at Havers Park on Tuesday and sit comfortably in mid table. The Friday SBBL side’s poor run continued, losing at Castle Camps. They will need a big win away at Balsham in their last game this week to get back to fourth place.
