We all rely on a good green on which to bowl but sometimes take it for granted, forgetting the hard work required to produce the end result. Greenkeeper Cliff Goodwin and his team of helpers willingly devote many hours of time and effort, usually early in the morning, to ensure we have the best possible surface. The green is improving year on year, even though this summer is on course to be the hottest and driest since records began, and Cliff, Roly, Steve and Andy are to be congratulated on their efforts - as Group 2 Chairman, Malcolm, said last week, "The green is getting better and better."
