On Sunday afternoon, Saffron Walden Town Bowling Club welcomed back former club member, Mike Boddington, who brought a team of 12 over from his new club in Bury St Edmunds. In a friendly, yet competitive atmosphere, in front of a small but informed crowd, the four rinks battled out a close contest with the home side just coming out on top. After the game, home skip, Frank Mason, thanked the Risbygate players for making the afternoon such an enjoyable one and promised a return visit next year.

In the leagues, the A team recovered their form with a 6 – 2 away win at Steeple Bumpstead in their North West Essex league fixture, the B team had a week off and the Cs lost away to Dunmow. The Seniors were also back on song, winning on Tuesday 6 – 2 against Thaxted. Unfortunately, the SBBL side lost on Friday in a mainly close contest, 42 – 50, taking just the two points from the game.

On the individual front, Alix Rouse, won through to the semi final of the NWEL Champion of Champions competition with a 21 – 6 win against the Stebbing champion.
