Despite Saffron Walden losing in the Essex and Herts Seniors league in a top of the table clash with Elsenham, team captain John Parker maintained his own unbeaten record as rink skip. He remains confident that the Town will continue to keep the pressure on as the season progresses and the nights begin to draw in.

The North West Essex League had its mid-season break last week with both the A and the B teams handily placed in third position in their respective divisions. Battle recommences on Wednesday with both teams at home against Elsenham and Quendon respectively. With two wins in a row, the C team are looking forward to resuming their campaign at Thaxted. The Steeple Bumpstead league side continues to embed new bowlers into the team and the fresh blood is showing its mettle: after a solid 8 – 2 win on a balmy summer evening last Friday at Thaxted, the side finds itself in second position.

If you are interested in finding out more about bowls or just supporting the club sides, do pop down on Monday, Wednesday or Friday this week and take a look; you will be most welcome. The clubhouse has a well-stocked licensed bar.
